Been Visitin’

Hello everyone!

I was away the past week, hence the no posting.  I was visiting my mom and my sister.   This was really the week I was spending for my Christmas vacation so I was able to take their gifts to them and had a very nice time.

My sister is still going through chemo.  Apparently, there is still activity in her lungs.   I am not sure exactly what this entails but they decided to put her on another medicine.   She has to go for eight more weeks.  It is a bit of a setback, but my sister is trying to be as positive as she can.

My mom’s friend Jane lost her dog and she was very sad this week.   It happened very suddenly, during the night.  The dog didn’t seem ill at all.   So, we were able to take Jane out a few times and hopefully that helped her to feel a little bit better.

My mom turned 71 on Saturday and we all went to Smuggler’s Wharf for dinner.  They have a great deal during the winter, everything on the menu is half price between 4 and 6.   So a big group of ten of us went and had a wonderful time.  I had bought my mom a Native American pendant that she loved and she wore it and it looked great.   Then my sister went to a hockey game and we returned home to relax.

Speaking of relaxing, I had a nice time of it this weekend.  I read 4 novels  and watched a couple of movies.  I got to take  naps in the afternoons.   Visiting my mom is a great little vacation.  I get rested up to get back to work.

And, today I have to do just that.  Get back to work.   But, as I love my job and coworkers that is not a terrible thing.  But I do like having a week off to do nothing but goof off!

Anyway, I am back.   I hope you all had a good week and have an even better one this week!

Choose to Cruise

Hi guys.

Deciding on this year’s vacation.  I have narrowed it down to two choices, both sailing on the Carnival Miracle.

One goes to Belize and Panama and I have never been to either of these ports.  It leaves on November 29 so is about the same time that I usually go.  I like the shore excursions on these ports and I would like to see a rain forest and a howler monkey, or a babboon.

The other option I have is for January 24th and I am leaning toward this one because it is really cheap and I will get  100 dollars of onboard credit per person to use as I want. It is a group cruise sponsored by Cruise Critic and it stops in St. Maarten, St Lucia and St. Kitts.   I have been to St. Maarten twice and there is not all that much to do there but I suppose I could go to a beach.  It would be worth it for the price and I can always do Belize next year.   As long as I am on a ship, I don’t care.

These are both eight day cruises and that will give me an extra day to relax.  I would talk to Chris about this but he doesn’t really care and will go along with whatever I decide, getting an opinion out of him is sometimes very hard!

I still have to post some pics from my cruise this December! I have never done that.   Another thing on my list of things I need to get done!

Hi guys. I have been in reading mode full tilt so I have not been online much this week.   I am so excited about reading adult books I have about 9 checked out to my library card and am barrelling through them.

I read Die With Me by Elena Forbes, loved it!

I read Last Rituals by an Icelandic author, Loved it!

I am reading Fall From Grace by Robert Barnard now, and am liking it very much.

I have quite a few novels to go.  But in winter I like nothing better than to curl up with a good book.  Or lots of books as the case may be. I am off tomorrow and I plan on finishing the Robert Barnard and starting another.

I have a couple of “Jim Stringer” novels by Andrew Martin that all take place on the railway system in London in 1903 that look pretty good.   He  has written three so far and I haven’t read any yet, so I will be sure to let you know.

And a customer wants me to read Zig Zag by a Spanish author, Somoza, so I  have that one, too.

Oh, and a coworker wants me to try Susan Howatch and her church of England series.   I have a long way to go before I can sleep!

Happy reading !

Ahhhhh, Friday

And the end of the week is here.  Or, would be here had I not have to work Saturday.

And I have to perform a baby story time tomorrow.  Egads!

But I had the day off do basically read and do nothing.   Thank goodness for that!  Tonight I plan to hit the supermarket for some food and maybe get some dinner with Chris.

Exciting life, no?

Just checking in, really.

Happy New Year!

I know this is a day late and a dollar short, but Happy New Year!

I had yesterday off, and again, it was quite relaxing.   I spent the day reading and playing my video game.  And eating sauerkraut.  You have to eat sauerkraut on New Year’s Day. It is supposed to bring luck.  Lord knows, I need it!

We went to a nice party on New Year’s Eve.  Just a small gathering but the hostess made a lovely dinner.  There were only seven of us there and it made for a nice quiet group.   As I  am not fond of big crowds, I really liked it.  And it got me out of the house a little and that is always a good thing.

And now, the holidays are over and it is back to the old grind.  I am going to visit my mom and sis in two weeks or so over Martin Luther King Jr. day week.    So that will be nice.  I have the presents almost all the way wrapped! Just waiting for one item to arrive!

Anyway, it is early and I am going to rest a bit more.   Hope your year has everything you want it to!
